Why Accurate Prayer Times Matter in Bangladesh

Prayer times in Dhaka and across Bangladesh are calculated based on the position of the sun relative to the Earth. The five daily prayers (Salah or Namaz) are obligatory for Muslims and must be performed at specific times throughout the day. Our prayer times are calculated using the University of Islamic Sciences, Karachi method, which is widely recognized and used across Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, and Afghanistan.

Bangladesh Prayer Time Calculation Method

The University of Islamic Sciences, Karachi calculation method (also known as the Karachi method) is the official standard used across Bangladesh. This method uses a Fajr angle of 18° and Isha angle of 18°, which are suitable for the geographical location and Islamic scholarly consensus in South Asia. The Islamic Foundation Bangladesh also recommends this method for accurate Salah timings.
